An Introduction to Birdsong

A bird’s song is a thing of beauty to the listening ear.  Whether you hear it from your open window, while taking a stroll, or on the soundtrack of a movie, birdsong is captivating and all around us.

Want to know more about birdsong?  During this stationary program we will learn about why and how birds vocalize, and the different types of sounds they make as well as what those sounds mean.  We will also suggest strategies to help in learning bird vocalizations, and some of the tools that experienced birders use to help with identifying birds by ear.

This program is specifically geared toward beginning birders and will be held rain or shine since we will be stationed under a covered pavilion.  Accessible restrooms are available on site.

Meet in the visitor parking lot west of the main entrance.
