Beginners Bird Walk at Heuser Park
This walk will be a good opportunity to see and hear some common birds and to get some practice with their songs and calls. During a recent walk on the trail, we observed resident birds and migrants that will nest in the area. These migrants include yellow warbler, common yellowthroat, and willow flycatcher. See https://ebird.org/checklist/S89132001 for a complete checklist of our last visit.
This will be a 2-mile walk (out and back) on a paved trail. This is an open trial with little shade so you may want to wear a hat and sunblock. If there is time and interest, we will visit the adjoining Bob Case park, where we may pick up some additional species.
Parking is adjacent to the baseball fields, where we will meet at the trailhead and enter the Schuylkill River West Trail. Note that you will drive through the first lot (adjacent to football/soccer fields) to the second lot, where the baseball fields are located. There is a restroom on site.
