Bird Walk at Welkinweir

Due to COVID-19 precautions, the walk will be limited to 10 people.  Pre-registration for this program is required at .

Welkinweir is a 224-acre oasis of natural beauty in northern Chester County.  Home to Green Valleys Watershed Association, this nature sanctuary features a greenway corridor centered on a stream and series of ponds and wetlands, all surrounded by meadow and woodland habitats that provide foraging and nesting sites for a great variety of birds.

Meet in the visitor parking lot west of the main entrance.  Bring binoculars if you have them and dress for the weather.  Paths are unpaved and uneven with one steep hill and will be wet and muddy in spots.  Beginning birders and children (accompanied by an adult) are welcome and encouraged to join.  The walk will last approximately 2 hours.  A portable restroom is on site.

Please be aware that walks will be held subject to safe walking conditions. All walks are weather dependent. Registrants will be notified the morning of the walk if it is cancelled.
