Birding at Heinz NWR

Join Edie Parnum, co-director of VFAS’s Backyards For Nature program, for an educational birding outing at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum.  Heinz NWR protects over 200 acres of the last remaining freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania as well as another 800 acres of surrounding woodlands, fields, and wetlands.  In addition to being an expert on creating backyard habitats for birds and other wildlife using native plants, Edie is an avid and knowledgeable birder and she will help you discover some of the more than 300 species of birds that have been spotted at Heinz NWR over the years.

Please meet by the visitor center.  This outing will be at a relaxed pace on flat surfaces and will last approximately two hours.  Bring binoculars if you have them.  Restrooms are available near the trailhead.
