Birding For Beginners at Brightside
Charlestown Township is now a Bird Town (www.birdtownpa.org) and in celebration, Charlestown’s Bird Town Chapter is hosting a birding field trip especially for those who are new to this wonderful activity, and those who have never tried it before and would like to learn more. (The rain date is June 1st, same time, and place.)
Our group will assemble in the parking lot at Brightside Farm Park, 3108 Yellow Springs Rd in Malvern, at 6:00pm. We will follow the one-mile paved multi-use loop trail around the park, returning to the parking lot by 8:00pm-ish, although you do not need to stay for the entire time. This event is wheelchair and stroller accessible BUT there are no bathrooms.
Please bring binoculars if you have them and any kids that are normally hanging around (although children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.)
Keep in mind that no prior birding experience is required to attend – this outing is for those who’d like to see what it’s all about. The National Park Service suggests these four reasons to “get into” birding: it is low cost, it is possible to “bird” anywhere, it is richly rewarding, and it leads to social interaction that does not involve electronics.
