Birding for Beginners at Wilson Farm Park
Note: This Park has multiple entrances. Be sure to use the Lee Road Entrance. Where Lee Road dead ends at the main park entrance, turn LEFT and follow the road all the way to where it ends at the all-abilities playground and parking lot. We will meet there.
Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook, one of our favorite birding spots, is a great place to explore to find birds that fit those bird-watching terms often heard in the spring and fall: Migrating species! Early arrivals! Early departures! Hawk watches!
If you are a new or beginning birder and have wondered, “What are they talking about?” this field trip is for you. Come enjoy some fall birding with us as we explain these easy-to-understand terms and search together for birds of particular interest during the fall. We’ll take about 2 hours on the 1+ mile paved loop to check out the sky over the park’s fields and explore the wooded edges and pond area for migrants and year-round feathered residents. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
All ages are welcome, including children if accompanied by an adult. Bring binoculars if you have them. Accessible restroom facilities are on site.
