Birding MontCo’s Lower Perkiomen Valley Park
This early morning outing is the 5th and final field trip in our VFAS special spring series of birding MontCo parks. Our route — a personal favorite— will follow a section of the Perkiomen Trail beginning at the first parking lot on the left as you come into the park on New Mill Road. The wide, paved path, with woods on one side and creek on the other, offers the possibility of a good variety of birds including great blue herons, pileated woodpeckers, warblers, orioles and more. We will bird for about a mile out and then back, which usually takes about two hours depending upon what birds are about and active.
No prior knowledge of birds or birding is necessary to attend – beginners are always welcome! Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring binoculars if you have them, and dress for the weather.
Note: Several restrooms are located further into the park when following New Mill Road.
