Birds and Plants at McKaig Nature Education Center

The McKaig Nature Education Center is a 91.3 acre natural preserve featuring undeveloped woods & two creeks. Montgomery County identified McKaig as a site of local significance, a unique example of woodland within a densely populated area. The woods are noted for the diverse flora for this area of the County and the woods contains beech, black oak and chestnut oak.

Join us as we explore the plants and birds at this beautiful location. We will look for fall migrants and other woodland birds. We will explore 2 to 2.5 miles of trails. There are some wet and hilly areas so sturdy waterproof shoes are a must.

No prior knowledge of birds or birding is necessary to attend – beginners are always welcome, as are children if they are accompanied by an adult. Please bring binoculars if you have them.

McKaig Nature Education Center is located at 889 Croton Rd in Wayne PA. Parking is available at the Robert’s Elementary School, where we will meet. The school is adjacent to the trailhead on Croton Road. There are no restrooms on site.
