Breakfast with the Birds
Our spring breakfast was so much fun, we’re doing it again! Let’s see what Fall birds come to join us! Arrive between 7:30 and 8 am. Bring your binoculars and favorite breakfast beverage; we’ll supply some pastries and other goodies- and maybe some bird-friendly coffee to try— and nature will supply the birds! That’s all we’ll need to enjoy a fall morning of “slow birding” together — breakfast with the birds and each other.
This park offers easy access to picnic tables in the grassy areas conveniently near the lower, large parking lot, with great birding opportunities in close view of woods and the river. We may see everything from eagles and kingfishers on the river to migrating warblers, woodpeckers and sparrows resting and foraging nearby. A special treat last spring was a pileated woodpecker spotted for a fairly lengthy, up-close visit near our breakfast tables. If you do not plan on walking the trail you may want to bring a folding chair just in case there are not enough picnic benches.
All experience levels and those with access needs are welcome to join us, as are all ages, including children if accompanied by an adult. Our outing will last up to three hours, although you may leave at any time. We will have volunteer guides there to bird with and assist those wishing to just relax and “bird from the benches” while other volunteer guides may lead some slow birding down the path along the river if desired.
An accessible restroom is available onsite.
Park in the lower parking lot by the boat launch and meet at the picnic tables.
