Brrrrding at Brrrryn Coed

Bryn Coed is an expansive preserve of fields and forest which makes it a great place for winter birding. Many species of raptors including Northern Harriers, American Kestrels, Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks, and a nesting pair of Bald Eagles can be observed here in the colder months. As well as magnificent birds of prey and other resident birds, we have a chance to see many of the 11 species of sparrows that may spend the winter here.

The trails at Bryn Coed are earthen and rolling, and depending on weather conditions may be muddy, icy, and snowy and are often slippery. Good footwear is a must. Please bring binoculars if you have them. Beginning birders as well as children are always welcome to join us (although children must be accompanied by an adult). Our outing will last about 2 hours and cover approximately 2 miles, but you may leave at any time.
