Brrrrrrrding in the New Year

Join us for the first VFAS birding trip of 2023 as we search for winter residents in the varied habitats of French Creek State Park.  Last year’s outing netted us 33 species, including common ravens, two types of mergansers, a bald eagle, hermit thrushes, a winter wren, and yellow-bellied sapsuckers.  This will be a great chance to try out those new binoculars you received for Christmas!

No prior knowledge of birds or birding is necessary, and this outing is open to all skill levels and abilities.  We will travel a route that keeps us primarily on paved trails and limited-use roads making it fully accessible to wheelchairs as well as to strollers, so bundle up the kids and bring them along too.

Meet at the playground parking lot behind the park office.

Accessible heated restrooms are available on site.
