Chester County Parks: Birding Hibernia

Come join us for a spring birding outing along the gorgeous west branch of Brandywine Creek in Hibernia County Park. We will be searching streamside habitats as well as woods and fields for early-arriving migrants such as Louisiana waterthrushes, blue-gray gnatcatchers, and chipping sparrows, as well as lingering winter visitors and year-round resident birds.

This field trip will cover between 1 and 1.5 miles over paved, grassy, and gravel surfaces and will take 2+ hours, although you may leave at any time. The terrain getting to and from the creek valley is sloping and moderately steep, and some of the unpaved trail surfaces along the creek are uneven. Please bring binoculars if you have them; the leaders will have a few extra pairs to loan out. Beginners and children (accompanied by an adult) are most welcome to join us.

Restrooms are available at multiple locations along the route as well as at the park office, where we will meet.

This is a joint field trip with the West Chester Bird Club.
