Ducks And More at Green Lane Reservoir

The 800-acre Green Lane reservoir and the surrounding 3,000-acre park of forests, fields, and wetlands have been designated as an Important Bird Area.  A total of 250 species of birds are considered regular here, including more than 20 species of ducks and 30 species of shorebirds.

Join us as we travel in our own cars to multiple stops around Green Lane reservoir to look for birds, particularly waterfowl.  We also hope to spot some early spring migrants (perhaps a precocious osprey?) as well as our continuing winter residents and birds that grace us year-round.

Travel times between the stops range from 5 to 9 minutes.  Please bring binoculars as well as a spotting scope if you have one.  Keep in mind the breeze off the water can often be cool, so dress appropriately.  Restrooms are available at most of the stops including the first one, all of which are stationary or involve minimal walking.
