Early Evening Easy Birding: Wilson Farm Park

Note: This Park has two entrances. Be sure to use the Lee Road Entrance. Where Lee Road dead ends at the main park entrance, turn LEFT and follow the road all the way to where it ends at the all-abilities playground and parking lot. We will meet there.

On your way home from work? Just need a nature break?  Come join us at this beautiful, accessible park in Chesterbrook, right off of Rte 202, for an easy stroll past the peaceful pond, woods’ edges and fields as we explore for the rich variety of birds around and nesting at this time of day and year. We are likely to find everything from Eastern kingbirds and orioles to red-tailed and red-shouldered hawks, with a variety of warblers, swallows and vireos. We often find “our” green heron that reliably comes to the pond each summer.

Our 1+ loop route is on a wide-paved path and we move very slowly for about a two-hour saunter. Possible bonus:  if there is interest and time allows after, we may go up the street about 6 blocks to the great blue heronry (nesting site) for a quick visit.

Birders of all capabilities and experience are very welcome, as are children if accompanied by an adult. Bring binoculars if you have them. There are accessible restrooms on site.
