End of Summer Birding

As summer winds down, join us for some leisurely birding at Upper Schuylkill Valley Park where we will be on the lookout for fall migrants. We will take the Schuylkill East Trail along the river to the dam and back, approximately a 3 mile roundtrip. The gravel trail is flat and and easily accessible. The park also has a small pond where we may see some ducks or herons.

Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. After birding, you may want to visit the wildlife center where you can see foxes, wolves, rabbits, a bald eagle, a bobcat, a variety of owls, hawks, turkeys and an assortment of farm animals. A seasonal butterfly garden will delight all ages, while a permanent exhibit entitled The Schuylkill Wilds features creatures found in and around the Schuylkill River. Turtles, frogs, fish, snakes, and a possum are on view throughout this indoor space.

Bring binoculars if you have them. The guides will have 2 pairs to share.  Restrooms are available on site
