Evening Birding at Welkinweir

Note: meet in the visitor parking lot west of the main entrance. GPS coordinates: 5848+4H5

Evenings are always a magical time to be out in nature, and nowhere is an early fall evening more lovely than at Welkinweir, a private nature preserve “where sky meets water” and home to the Green Valleys Watershed Association (GVWA).  Join former GVWA intern Eric Hughes for a “golden hour” birding stroll around the grounds of this beautiful former estate, which is normally closed in the evenings but will be open only to us for this program.

This field trip is open to all ages and experience levels, including those new to birding, so please do bring the kids with you.  We will be travelling a little over a mile along unpaved and uneven dirt footpaths over the course of two hours, so please wear sturdy shoes with good tread.  There is one steep hill to navigate.

Bring binoculars if you have them and meet in the visitor parking lot west of the main entrance.  A portable restroom is available on site.
