Fall Native Plant Sale
Are you looking to start a native plant garden and have no idea where to begin? On Saturday October 26, Valley Forge Audubon Society and West Whiteland Township are sponsoring a native plant sale from Noon to 2 pm. The event will be held in the pavilion at Catov Park in Exton, PA. Experienced native plant gardeners will be available to answer any of your questions and to recommend plants suitable for your space and habitat. Fall is the best time of year for planting. Cooler temperatures reduce the stress on plants. When you plant in the fall, all the plant’s energy is sent to the roots, and you may end up with a healthier and more robust plant that blooms fuller and earlier than its spring planted counterpart.
Native plants will be sourced from North Creek Nurseries for sun, shade, and edge habitat. We will not be charging full price for these plants but will be asking for donations (cash or Venmo) to support our VFAS outreach programs, which include getting native plants to as many people as possible. In addition, VFAS members will be sharing a variety of native plants from their own gardens.
And our friends at The Backyard Nature Preserve will be joining us with some of their stock of native flowers, trees and shrubs to sell. (www.BackyardNaturePreserve.weebly.com)
