Farm Fields and Feathered Friends: Birding at Lundale Farm

Early fall is one of the most dynamic times of the birding year, and Lundale Farm offers an ideal landscape for watching the seasons shift. Join Valley Forge Audubon Society for a September walk through this working farm’s mix of open fields, hedgerows, woodlots, and streamsides — a mosaic that reliably attracts both resident birds and the first waves of southbound migrants.

During this easy out-and-back mosey along the farm road, we’ll look for lingering summer species such as Indigo Buntings, Eastern Kingbirds, and Orchard Orioles while keeping an eye out for early‑moving warblers, flycatchers, and Broad‑winged Hawks beginning their journeys south. Lundale’s varied habitat often produces surprises, and the pace of the walk will be relaxed enough for participants of all experience levels to enjoy the morning.

This is a great outing for beginning as well as experienced birders, photographers, and those looking to learn more about regenerative farming practices.

Please bring binoculars if you have them – the leaders will have a couple of pairs available to loan out. Children (accompanied by an adult) are always welcome at Valley Forge Audubon Society events. A portable toilet is available on site.
