Full Moon Nighthawk Watch

Join us for this special first-time event: a peaceful evening of sky-watching and summertime magic over the conserved fields of Lundale Farm. During this relaxing program we’ll stay in one place to watch the sun slip behind the hills to the west just as the full Sturgeon moon rises over the treetops to the east, all the while watching for migrating Common Nighthawks gracefully flying and calling in the cooling dusk air. We’ll learn about these amazing birds from our Valley Forge Audubon Society guides while we also keep an eye out for other birds moving through the twilight, from swallows and chimney swifts to the American Kestrels and Common Ravens that make Lundale Farm their year-round home.

Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on along with any food and drink you’d like to enjoy during this relaxed evening under the open skies. You may wish to bring binoculars if you have them. Parking and seating will be on a grass lawn. A portable restroom is available on site.

No registration is required, and this event is free although donations to Lundale Farm – a non-profit 501 c(3) organization nurturing a community committed to sustainable agriculture – are greatly appreciated.
