Great Backyard Bird Count at the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove
The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) runs for four days between February 18th and 21st. Join Valley Forge Audubon Society leader Vince Smith to learn more about how you can participate in the GBBC and discover what fascinating birds are in your own backyard.
This outing will include a 30-minute stationary program focusing on bird ID and how to report your bird sightings if you want to participate on your own at a different location. Then those interested will venture into the field for an approximately 90 minute guided birding field trip. The leader will submit the list for the group.
No prior knowledge of birds or birding is necessary to attend. These programs are open to all ages, although we ask that children under 18 be accompanied by an adult. If you have binoculars, bring them, and dress for the weather. A notebook may also be handy to record your observations.
Restrooms are located on site.
NOTE: GPS does not recognize the main entrance road and will want to take you by Old Mill Rd, which is the back entrance. Please use the main entrance at the intersection of Pawlings Rd and Audubon Rd
Masks are not required for this outdoor program, although VFAS encourages all participants to be fully vaccinated and asymptomatic to attend.
