Hike: Militia Hill/Fort Washington State Park (4-5 miles)
If the meadow we hike through is in bloom, it will help us enjoy the Green Ribbon Trail. Also, some pretty Wissahickon Creek views.
DIRECTIONS: From Rt 476, take exit 20 (Plymouth Rd), stay to the left up to Plymouth Rd & turn right. Turn left at the light (short distance) for Butler Pike. In a short distance (before the curve), turn right on Militia Hill Rd (stay straight!). Go about 2 miles to the dead end at Stenton Ave (traffic light) & turn left. In about 100 yds, turn right on Militia Hill Rd (traffic light). Stay on this for over a mile (you’ll cross Joshua Rd) to the entrance on the right (there’s a Militia Hill Picnic Area sign but it’s small so slow down). There’s also a Fort Washington Park sign to the left of the entrance, but it faces the road so it’s harder to see. Follow the road as it curves to the right and turn right into parking lot. (There’s a bird-viewing stand opposite parking entrance).
