Marvelous May Birding at Ellis Woods Park
May birding is wonderful everywhere, but when you combine a park with varied habitats and an expert guide, the birding can be spectacular! Ellis Woods Park has been developed by East Coventry Township with birds in mind, and the results speak for themselves with over 160 species documented to date. The Birder’s Loop Trail features interpretive signs describing birds found in each habitat, and a printable checklist of birds that have been sighted at the park is linked here.
This trip, led by local resident and VFAS volunteer Eric Hughes, will last 2-3 hours and will cover up to 2 miles on mostly rolling terrain, although there will be some steep sections to navigate. The earthen trails may be muddy and slippery. Good footwear is a must.
Bring binoculars if you have them. Beginners and experienced birders alike are welcome. There is no restroom available on site.
