Nesting Season Bird Walk

Early June is the height of breeding season for birds in our area.  Join us as we look for nesting birds and new fledglings at Welkinweir, a 224-acre nature sanctuary in northern Chester County.  Closed to the public on weekends, we will enjoy the opportunity to explore the wetlands, meadows, ponds, gardens, and woodlands at this special place, which is also home to the Green Valleys Watershed Association.

Meet in the visitor parking lot west of the main entrance. Bring binoculars if you have them and dress for the weather. Sturdy shoes are recommended as all footpaths are unpaved and uneven with one steep hill to navigate. Beginning birders and children (accompanied by an adult) are welcome and encouraged to join.

Masks are not required for this outdoor program, although VFAS encourages all participants to be fully vaccinated and asymptomatic to attend. This will be a walk of 1-2 miles and will last approximately 2-3 hours.  A portable restroom is on site.
