PA Native Trees & Birding Tour at Harriet Wetherill Park

Please note: this park has two entrances. Be sure to use the main entrance off of Butler Pike.

Join us for a fun, interesting start to the official Labor Day holiday. Bring yourself, bring the family! Urban forester Andrew Conboy and volunteers from the Valley Forge Audubon Society will lead this exploration of native trees and other native plants and the birds that need them.

Harriet Wetherill Park is noteworthy for the native plant improvements park supporters have added and maintain here. Andrew, a local ISA-certified arborist and founder of the Community Canopy Project, has been one of the leaders of this important effort. Hopefully we’ll spot some late summer/early fall migrants utilizing the food sources that the native trees provide while learning about those trees and their importance to wildlife and birds.

We will take about 2 hours to travel along a 1+ mile route of paved and natural paths, although you may leave at any time. All levels of interest and experience as well as all age groups are welcome to join us (although children must be accompanied by an adult.) Bring binoculars if you have them; the guides will have several pairs to lend.
There are accessible restroom facilities on site.
