Songbird Migration at Ridley Creek SP

Join us for what should be a very bird-filled walk during the beginning of peak songbird migration!

Ridley Creek State Park is one of the premiere places to bird in Delaware County year-round, but especially during migration when many songbirds find refuge here on their way to their respective breeding grounds. We will walk the earthen trails under the forest canopy and search for many bird species including several warblers that breed here such as Yellow-throated Warbler, American Redstart, Yellow Warbler, Hooded Warbler, and Common Yellowthroat. Other target species include Scarlet Tanager and Baltimore Oriole. We will also listen and try to identify what birds are singing around us.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. This outing will probably last about two hours and some of it may take place in the parking lot where many of our target species are known to spend some time. Please bring your binoculars if you have them. Proper outdoor footwear is recommended in case the trails are muddy. Bathrooms are available on-site.
