Spring Migration Bird Walk at Welkinweir

In May, migrating birds and flowering plants bring an explosion of color to Welkinweir, a 224-acre nature sanctuary in northern Chester County. Join us as we search for returning and resident birds in the wetlands, meadows, ponds, and woodlands at this special place, which is also home to the Green Valleys Watershed Association.

Masks are required to be worn by all participants. Meet in the visitor parking lot west of the main entrance. Bring binoculars if you have them and dress for the weather. Sturdy shoes are recommended as all paths are unpaved and uneven and will be wet and muddy in spots, with one steep hill to navigate. Beginning birders and children (accompanied by an adult) are welcome and encouraged to join. This walk of 1-2 miles will last approximately 2-3 hours.  A portable restroom is on site.
