Tree and Wildflower ID Hike

In honor of Arbor Day (which is celebrated on April 25), join Ridley Creek SP’s naturalist for a fun program about trees, their parts, how they function, their importance in nature, and how to recognize the ones that grow at Ridley Creek State Park. We will observe three state park champion trees and a tree species that is actually extinct in the wild before departing on a nature hike to learn about tree identification, native vs. invasive trees, and the most valuable species to plant in your own backyard. We’ll also be looking for spring ephemeral wildflowers.

Wear good walking shoes for this hike, which will cover 2-3 miles and last about 2 hours. Registration is not required for this family-friendly program. Meet at the Hunting Hill Mansion (also the park office) upper parking lot.
