Have you ever encountered a bird in your backyard or at a park that you couldn’t identify? When you listen to birds sing, do you wonder which species you’re hearing? If you answered ‘yes’ to either one of those questions, you’re in luck: the Cornell Lab of Ornithology has developed an app for smartphones and tablets to help anyone identify birds that they see or hear anywhere.
Join Valley Forge Audubon Society’s Eric Hughes for a walkthrough of one of the most popular and useful birding e-resources: the Merlin Bird ID app. Eric will guide viewers through the process of using Merlin, focusing on each of the four ways the app can be used to aid in bird identification. There will be plenty of tips shared along the way to help users leverage the major features of the app to maximize the bird watching experience. While this presentation caters to new or infrequent Merlin users, experienced birders are also welcome to attend to learn more about this exciting new technology.
This event is co-sponsored by Green Valleys Watershed Association.
