Weekday Birding on the Schuylkill River Trail – Spring City

The Schuylkill River Trail wanders through a variety of wonderful birding environments. For this outing, our easy, flat, 1+ mile out-and-back route is located on a stretch of the trail that runs between the river and wetlands, offering a chance to see ducks, kingfishers, and herons as well as songbirds. Birding this particular stretch on a calm Tuesday offers the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and birds of the trail while encountering less foot and bicycle traffic than on weekends.

This outing will last about 2 hours. The path is mostly open so sun protection is recommended. Bring binoculars if you have them. There are no restroom facilities available.

DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the large parking lot on Riverside Drive at the RiverEdge Square Shopping Center in Spring City, which is one block west of the river off of E. Bridge Street and is adjacent to the SRT. PLEASE NOTE: Riverside Drive LOOKS LIKE A DRIVEWAY and is immediately next to the “RiverEdge Square” sign for this little strip mall.
