eBird: How Citizen Science Impacts Conservation & How You Can Make a Difference
New to eBird? Whether you want to use eBird as a way to keep track of your life list or check out hotspots to see what’s been spotted recently, we’ll introduce you to eBird and all it has to offer. Learn how eBird uses your data for ornithology research. Holly Merker has been the eBird state coordinator for Pennsylvania since 2005. Citizen Science: Learn About Project FeederWatch
Project FeederWatch is a winter survey of birds that visit feeders in backyards, nature centers, community areas, and other locales in North America. All you need to participate is a bird feeder, birdbath, or plantings that attract birds. From early November to early April, participants can count birds as often as every week (for as little as 15 minutes each day for 2 consecutive days). Participants then enter their data onto the FeederWatch website where scientists analyze it to assess winter bird abundance and distribution, to track broad scale movements of winter bird populations, and long-term trends.
Program will be held at Wild Birds Unlimited, Providence Town Center, Collegeville, PA
Long-time participants Vince Smith email@example.com and Pat Nastase firstname.lastname@example.org will provide an overview of the program.
